A parent's perspective about the impact of transition coaching...

Arm Around Shoulder

“As a parent, when your kids are in transition and stuck, you feel it, and it hurts. High school, high school graduation, the transition to college and college graduation are times of incredible change and anxiety. I have no idea what my kids will face in the future, but I do know developing strategies for navigating and even thriving in change is vital to being a successful and happy adult.

My daughter and I are close, and she is verbal and expressive, but as she was graduating college and going through many life transitions, I was not equipped to help her. She was anxious about the future, and really, who isn't?

Thankfully, we found Elizabeth, which was more than we could have hoped for! Initially, my daughter was reluctant to seek help, but I asked her to have one meeting and then evaluate. After the first meeting with Elizabeth, I could see and hear a difference in her anxiety level. Instead of fearing the future and dreading graduation, she became excited about what was next. It took some time, but I could tell she and Elizabeth were making process. The anxiety about her future eased, her day-to-day happiness and health improved, and it was almost like I saw the curtain open for her.

Elizabeth helped her feel empowered and confident about the decisions she needed to make. Of course, when you are in a crisis, you are not always ready to develop a plan, but Elizabeth was able to help her navigate for today and tomorrow.

Now six months later, I cannot believe how far she has come. My daughter is happy, confident and thriving. She is very grateful to Elizabeth and has often said, "Elizabeth's coaching and partnership were invaluable, and she is unsure how else she could have navigated that season of change". She continues to check in with Elizabeth and knows if she goes through another season of change, and she will, Elizabeth is her coach.

I think one of the most powerful outcomes for my daughter is how Elizabeth helped her develop her unique plan and build confidence in my daughter's decision-making ability. I have noticed a very thoughtful approach to making plans and being able to "play out the movie" of how, why, and what your decision and plan may yield.

I have referred many friends to Elizabeth, and I think so highly of her and am forever grateful for all she has provided for our family.”
